MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES
This
is a replica of the Albert memorial in London. This model was commissioned
as part of an exhibition to create awareness and assist fund raising
for the renovation of the Albert memorial. It involved a series of sculptures
and a detailed freeze including jewel replicas.
Here
is a model of the ocean bed commissioned by the Museum of Fishing in
Buckie, Scotland. It uses illumination to show the variations in water
temperature, ocean currents, fish shoal movements and the relationship
between them. This replica of a sub-sea survey module was a centre piece
of a British Gas exhibition. The module maps out the sea bed, generating
information on which decisions on drilling locations and techniques
are based.
Regarding display work, a replica whiskey still was developed as a
central feature of a Scottish whiskey exhibition.
This
full size replica of a 2-seater training plane was produced for an army
training video.
Other commissions include:
- Replica animals.
- Meteorological models and instruments.
- Solar system models.
- Historical buildings.
- Historic weapon, tool and machinery replicas
ENGINEERING MODELS
We produce pre-patent working models to demonstrate to potential licence
partners or investors the effectiveness of new inventions.
A good example is a fully functioning model of a self-activating effluent
tank screen. The model allows live, interactive demonstration of the
screen in operation. This is a new, worldwide patented invention and
the model is proving to be invaluable in converting interest into sales
by seeing proof of the screen’s effectiveness in action. Photo coming
soon.
These
are components of a working model demonstrating a set of folding fins
designed to minimise the rolling of boats in heavy seas.
We also produce prototypes of children’s games to establish viability
and explore the various materials for commercial production.
ARCHITECTURAL MODELS
Below are illustrations of the range of work that we have completed.
If you live or work close by the locations mentioned and do not recognise
the building, do not worry! Many of the models are produced as part
of the feasibility study and the majority of all concepts do not progress
further than the planning stage. The benefits of detailed modelling
of proposed developments are:
- Assessing the practical feasibility of a project in terms of physical
constraints such as available space and traffic considerations.
- Evaluating the visual impact of a building in its proposed environment
and location.
- Winning support for a development by presenting a realistic preview
of how it will look.
- A very effective sales tool in securing sales of flats, offices
or other accommodation within a complex.
- A tangible model strengthens demonstration of a new build concept
alongside virtual reality and other presentations.
This
is a model of the proposed Marleybone Gate development. It involved
a team of six people and took eight weeks to complete.
A
model of a proposed Euro-tunnel development at Waterloo. The model helped
to demonstrate that the development, incorporating an office complex,
would have been impractical for a number of reasons. Better to find
out at this stage……
These
projects were commissioned by developers outside of the UK. The first
was a proposed development of Tokyo Airport, the other a major hotel
project in Kenya.

PRIVATE COMMISSIONS
An interesting aspect of our work is responding to requests from private
individuals for models of numerous subjects. These include:
- Houses. Usually of sentimental value, often requested as a commemorative
gift by family members.
- Cars, motorcycles or boats.
- Football stadiums.
Tree
houses. This model is for a tree house manufacturer. It was used at
the Chelsea flower show and generated huge publicity for the manufacturer.
Not
all of our bespoke ‘quirky’ models are private commissions. The brief
for this specimen was “produce a bird like an owl or an eagle, because
sea gulls are scared of them. Make it weather and wind proof, 4 feet
tall, with a menacing look on its face.” The result was this fine
specimen. A truly rare old bird, its habitat is the waste disposal
area of a food processing plant in Midlothian.
- If you have a problem or an idea and would like us to help breathe
life into it, send us a sketch or give us a call. We rarely disappoint.
PROPS
We have a range of props for hire or purchase, these include props
for theatres, pantomime, promotional photo shoots, out door advertising
and other events.
